Founded in 1839, Merriwa is a small rural town beside the Merriwa River in New South Wales, Australia. Hidden amongst all shades of greeneries, comes this beautifully peaceful town covered with the aroma of earthy forest. Popularity of farming started to grow amongst people in Merriwa. Slowly, this small town has been developed into an agricultural centre rich in sheep and cattle. Today, in this rural charm, a Wool Festival is held every year in June.

 
By the 1930s, it had a population of under 1,000 where people relied heavily on sheep and cattle farming. Life there was simple and pleasant. Ferreira, the town mayor, was well-known for the devoted love for his wife. Days went by, and time has left its presence on his wife’s appearance. This became very concerning to him. One day, Ferreira surprisingly discovered the hands of the workers that milk sheep, were smooth and delicate. So he gathered a group of professionals to study the key to such beautiful skin. After continuous experimental extractions, the result was a tub of lanolin in a creamy white paste. With much excitement, Ferreira brought it home for his wife to try. After a short period of time, his wife’s skin visibly appeared nourished, revealing a much younger looking skin. Words spread quickly in town, and it wasn’t long before this tub of lanolin cream gained its popularity. Seeing such a great opportunity, Ferreira decided to produce and sell the cream and named it after his wife, Chantelle.
